MGI UK & Ireland Region is very excited to announce that it has held the very first, post-pandemic, in-person meeting!
An Actual Meeting! Yes its true! MGI UK & Ireland held an in-person Tax Forum at The Marriott, Forest of Arden - the first for 18 months!
To get everyone in the mood for a day of tax discussion and lively debate, the group gathered the night before for dinner and a long-awaited catch up. The celebration was made all the better as it happened to be Rickard Luckin tax specialist, Ian Marrow's birthday, so the group spoilt him with cake: He will forever be known as Vatman!
With 16 attendees from 11 member firms the group had a really good, tax focused, day. Topics discussed included:
- Tax department recruitment and succession
- Residence and non-residence and the impact of Covid
- Family investment companies
- Trusts
- Crypto currency and taxation
- Research and development
- MTD for individuals
- Valuation of growth shares
- Letters of engagement
- .....and so much more
Mark Wickersham also gave a virtual presentation on "Value Pricing Tax Services", which created a healthy discussion on finding the balance between fair and commercially sensible.
Overall it was great to get back to actually meeting up with MGI Worldwide friends and colleagues.
Next up is the MGI UK & I Academy meeting later this week with the same format.
