About Corné

“I first joined MGI Bass Gordon in January 2012 as an Audit Supervisor. I later briefly pursued alternative opportunities as an Audit Manager, but re-joined the firm as Assistant Training and Development Officer in 2017. I have subsequently been promoted to Training and Development Officer and I am involved with the training and development of audit and accounting staff, assisting with internal compliance and quality management, technical research and consultations, maintaining templates for assurance engagements and financial statements, as well as support to trainees’ studying. I am a registered SAICA Assessor and act as assessor for several of the firm’s SAICA trainees.

“I enjoy the work that I do because I am passionate about auditing and accounting and strongly believe in ‘doing things right the first time’. I also enjoy passing on knowledge through the various training interventions that the firm is offering.”

Experience relating to ISQM standards and the required System of Quality Management (SoQM)

Corné has been involved in promoting compliance with ethical and professional standards at MGI Bass Gordon since 2017. She has stood on the firm’s Technical Committee since that time, and completed various internal monitoring file reviews.

Corné assisted with the creation of the firm’s Quality(QM) and Ethics Manual (2022), and in 2023 and 2024, she was involved in/assisted with the ongoing and annual evaluations of the firm’s SoQM, updating risk assessment, and firm’s QM and Ethics Manual.

From 2020, Corné has also been involved in completing the MGI network’s yearly Quality Assurance questionnaires so is familiar with the network’s quality assurance processes. She also attended to the MGI Worldwide firm reviewer’s questions and queries regarding existing policies and procedures in September 2022.

Reminder: What does the network’s Technical Committee do?

The Technical Committee (TC) comprises three members chosen by the IC from non-IC Members. The TC's role is to advise the IC and CEO on technical aspects of the quality review and audit independence systems of the network, to propose the regulatory framework for those systems, to appoint and guide quality reviewers and to assess member firms on their quality assurance performance.
